Comnet was one of Turkey's first ISPs and was also one of the first Turkish companies to realise the financial potential of the Web. I was hired by Comnet because I was the only person they could find who had design skills plus working knowledge of UNIX. We were soon designing, developing and hosting web sites for many Turkish retail companies and banks.

ACHIEVEMENT: During this time, the IT Manager tutored me in UNIX/LINUX web serving and TCP/IP and I was soon given the sole responsibility of the IBM AIX web servers and I started managing, maintaining and updating them. I was therefore "promoted" to Web Master and given a raise in salary, although this didn't in any way prevent my web design and development activities.
